The Design Museum Logo

I was tasked with creating a new logo design for the Design Museum in London, as well as stationary, business cards, signs, and posters. This logo design took roughly two weeks.
I began by sketching out some ideas which were divided into the three main classes of the Design Museum. Digital, Architectural, and Fashion, then chose a design from each of these classes to recreate digitally.
Colour wise, I wanted to pick colours that would stand out, but also mean something. Blue represents intelligence, orange represents creativity, and yellow represents inspiration.
I then converted the chosen sketches into digital designs with a different colour palette.
I asked those around me which they preferred, and all of those I asked went with the Bottom-Centre. I can see now that it appeals to the eye better, as the colours are less bright and thus draw in the eye rather than deter.
My final design was tweaked slightly from the final choice. Now, the logo has it’s own font, and a replacement of the graph paper lines with lines of the letters “DM”. I’m happy with this final design, though looking back I wouldn’t have made the lines into letters.
